Majales, processions mark first ashra of Muharram in Dubai

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Muharram Majalis and processions programs were held in Dubai Mosques and Imambargahs to pay homage to Hadhrat Imam Hussain (A) and his 72 loyal companions who presented that supreme sacrifices for the sake of Islam and humanity in the scorching plain of Karbala some 1,400 years ago which are eternal and unparalleled.

Different organizations and bodies organized the Muharram programs which began on the eve of first Muharram and continued till 13 Muharram.

Dubai Jamaat also arranged a 13-day mourning program at Satwa Imambargah beginning from Wednesday 9th February. On the second night of Muharram, a flag bearing the words 'YA ABBAS ALAMDAR' was hoisted on the exterior wall of the Imambargah in honor of the flag bearer of Islam in Karbala Abil Fadhlil Abbas (A).

The daily program began with recitation of Surah-e-Yasin, English Lecture by Sheikh Shahnawaz Mahdavi of India - Resident Aalim of Mombasa, Marsia, Urdu majlis by Maulana Ghazanfer Abbas of India followed by Maatam, Ziyarat. Thereafter, Nyaz was served.

The Afternoon Muharram Majalis Program for Ladies began from Thursday 10th February addressed by Zakira Tahera Rizvi of Hyderabad. Special majlis session for children aged 3 to 10 years was also held in the ladies hall during the afternoon ladies program.

The Day of Ashura started with Aamal-e-Ashura followed by a majlis-e-aza. Later Maatam and specified Ziyarat-e-Ashura were performed and recited. Faaqa was broken at 4:45 pm.

Shaam-e-Gharibaan majalis were also held attended by throngs of Husseini mourners.
