AMMAN, Jordan: Hundreds of pilgrims observed Day of Ashoura – tenth of Muharram – at the holy shrine of Ja’far At-Tayyar (a.s.), son of Abu Taleb (a.s.), brother of Al-Imam Ali (a.s.) and cousin of holy Prophet Muhammad b. Abdullah (s.w.), in Al-Mezar city, south of Amman.

According to the mourning pilgrims authorities made sufficient measures to welcome devotees, most of whom were Iraqis.

Al-Mezar city is home to shrines of several companions of holy Prophet (s.w.) and martyrs of Battle of Mautah as well as of Ja’far b. Abi Taleb (Ja’far At-Tayyar) who was father-in-law of Sayyeda Zainab bent Al-Imam Ali (a.s.) and sister of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.). His two little grandsons named Aun (a.s.) and Muhammad (a.s.) were among the 72 martyrs of Karbala who kissed martyrdom in support of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.) for defense of Religion and Sheree’ah, and protection of human dignity.

The mourners spent Ashoura night in Al-Mezar highlighting the seerah of the Chief of Youths of Paradise Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.), objective of his stand, and philosophy of Karbala. Then they offered Zohrayn prayers and went to the holy shrine of Ja’far At-Tayyar (a.s.) extending to him condolence on the martyrdom of his nephew Al-Imam Al-Hussein (a.s.) who nourished the tree of Islam with his holy blood.
