British MPs condemn report on Islamic schools By: Farhan Zaidi LONDON, Britain: British Parliamentarians have censured a report by chairman of the Schools Supervisory Committee David Bell in which he claimed that Islamic schools do not teach their students tolerance and coexistence with other cultures. Some school officials have described Bell as someone who is Islamophobic, and asked him to prove that Islamic schools have failed to prepare their students for integrating in a democratic society like Britain. Britain is home to about 120 Islamic schools, most of which get government funding, and many of them have scored successes and are better than many of the government-run schools. END |
