Hajj pilgrims leaving for Prophet (p) Shrine, Al-Baqee visit By: Abdulali HOLY CITY OF MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia: The Jeddah international airport of Saudi Arabia sees everyday the departure of around 60,000 hajj pilgrims for their home countries, while at least 90,000 pilgrims are known to have left for a visit to the holy city of Medina, also known as the ‘City of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him & his pure progeny)’. The holy city of Medina houses the holy shrine of the Chief of Prophets, Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (peace be upon him & his pure progeny), as well as destructed holy graves of his beloved daughter Mistress of the women of World Sayyedah Fatimah Az-Zahraa (peace be upon her) and infallible imams from his progeny namely Al-Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mojtaba, Al-Imam Ali bin Al-Hussein Zayn Al-Abideen, Al-Imam Muhammad Al-Baqer and Al-Imam Ja’far As-Sadeq (peace be upon them). In 1926, the Saudi rulers bulldozed the holy shrines built on these holy graves in the cemetery of Al-Baqee sending a wave of resentment in Muslim World. According to traditions it is Mostahab Moakkad (highly desirable) for all people in general and hajj pilgrims in particular to pay visit to these holy shrines. It is narrated from Al-Imam Ali (peace be upon him) that complete your hajj with visitation to holy Prophet (peace be upon him & his pure progeny) because dropping visit to him after hajj pilgrimage is oppression and against manners. Sheikh Saddoq has reported from Al-Imam Ja’far As-Sadeq (peace be upon him) that when anyone among you perform hajj, he should complete his hajj on paying a visit to us because it is ‘completion of hajj’. By Monday, the Jeddah airport had seen off around 300,000 pilgrims (28 percent of this year's pilgrims), who left for their home countries. END |
