Bahrain annual Quran contest concludes By: Ali Al-Qadumi
MANAMA, Bahrain: The sixth Al Dhikir Al Hakeem Annual Quran Competition that began on 26 January at Al Sanabis Ma'tam, ended on 5 February. The 11-day event, organized by Al Dhikir Al Hakeem Society for Quran Sciences, included a speech by leading clergyman Sheikh Isa Qassim and a senior organizing committee member. It also included Quran recitals by seven-year-old Saudi Abdulla Al Shaqqaq, who memorises two-thirds of the Quran in addition to Imam Ali (a.s.)'s sayings, and the competition's last year recitation category winner Hussain Eid.
Iranian Prophet (s.w.)'s Family Islamic Music Troupe performed at the opening. A documentary highlighting the competition's history was also presented. Competition co-ordinator Shehab Ahmed said the contest was divided into five categories.
A total of 386 people took part, with males having their competition in the ma'tam and females having theirs in the Mo'alama Ma'tam nearby. Winners were awarded with prizes. END |
