SISC, Amal condemn murder of Ayat Sistani’s aides By: Karim Tellawi BEIRUT, Lebanon: Lebanese leaders and parties have severely condemned assassination of Ayatullah Sayyed Ali As-Sistani’s aides in two separate attacks in Iraq terming it anti-Iraq conspiracy. Extending condolence to Ayatullah As-Sistani, Vice-President of Supreme Islamic Shia Council Sheikh Abdulamir Qablan denounced the assassination of Sheikh Mahmoud Al-Madaeini who was martyred along with his son and four guards in Baghdad on Wednesday. Qablan said the crime was aimed at targeting unity of Iraqis. Political office of Amal movement issued a statement slamming the murder. It said targeting Marajay and holy sites in this way and in such a time when Iraqi nation is preparing for elections, is included in attempts of creating rift. Meanwhile, Muslim Scholars Association, which represents Sunnis in Iraq, also condemned the killing describing it a ‘criminal act’. END |
