Majalis-e-Aza mark beginning of ‘Mourning Days’ across Pak

By: Salman Alvi

RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Ayyam-e-Aza (Mourning Days) programmes marking the martyrdom anniversary of the eighth Tajdar-e-Imamate Hazrat Imam Ali Reza (A.S.) began throughout the country like other global parts on Wednesday in line with the announcement made by Quaid-i-Millat-i-Jafariya, Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi.

Ulema and zakireen highlighted the seerat and character of Khanwada-e-Risalat (A.S.) at Majalis-e-Aza held at mosques and Imambargahs. The day began with recitation from Holy Quran after Fajr prayers at mosques and Imambargahs. Later different religious organisations and institutions organised Majalis and Matamdari programmes.

Allama Syed Taqi-un-Naqvi, addressing a gathering at shrine of Sakhi Shah Piyara Chuhr Harpal said Hazrat Imam Reza (A.S.) is that great inheritor of Rasool (SAW) who performed invaluable services for the promotion of knowledge, and Islamic values. He said the pious character of the Imam-e-Zamin (A.S.) is a complete and best example for the seekers of knowledge to follow.

The first Majlis of the Ayyam-e-Aza was held at Qasr-e-Abu Talib (A.S.) under the auspices of Anjuman Ghulaman-e-Abu Talib (A.S.). Allama Syed Mohsin Ali Hamdani in his address on the occasion said, the pious character and deeds of Hazrat Imam Ali Reza (A.S.) lit the candles of peace and tranquillity and drew a line between terrorism and peace-loving. Terrorism is a menace for society that has made the national character hollow.

Welcoming the restrictions imposed by President Pervez Musharraf on terrorist groups, he stressed the need of strict implementation of the Anti-Terrorism Act and stopping the banned groups from operating with new names. He called upon the government to implement the Moosavi Peace Formula for restoring durable peace in the country. Khateeb-e-Azadari Syed Naseer Hussain Sabzwari and Zakir Fida Hussain Jafri also addressed the gathering.

A resolution adopted on the occasion expressed heartfelt grief on the destruction and loss of lakhs of lives as a result of quake and tsunami. The resolution appealed the world of humanity to help the mankind that suffered in this natural disaster. Another resolution expressed complete solidarity with the oppressed people of Kashmir, Palestine, Iraq.

Anjuman Muta’allemeen organized first majlis of Ayyam-e-Aza at religious institution Jamiatul Momineen. Allama Sakini while addressing the majlis said that when Imam Reza (A.S.) reached Tous, 40,000 scholars and preachers and 25,000 writers were present there to welcome Imam (A.S.) as well as to see him and listen to his sayings. They after seeing Imam (A.S.) asked Imam (A.S.) to tell them any hadis of his grandfather (SAW). Then Imam (A.S.) told them hadis Silsilatuz Zahb.

Allama Syed Tanvir Hussain addressed a similar gathering at Qasr-e-Shabbir Dhoke Syedan, Allama Hafiz Amjad Ali Amjad at Markazi Jamia Masjid Darbar Shah Chan Chiragh and Jamia Al-Musheer Wah Cantt. Matmi Sangat Pursadaran Babul Hawaij (A.S.) performed the Matamdari and Noha-Khwani at the end of the Majlis.

"Knowledge is better than wealth because it protects you while you have to guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."
