DAMASCUS, Syria: Birth Anniversary of Sayedah Zaynab Al-Kobra (peace be upon her), daughter of Imam Ali and Sayedah Fatimah Az-Zahraa (peace be upon them), was reverently observed in Syria.

Marking the august occasion, throngs of devotees gathered at the holy mausoleum of Sayedah Zaynab Al-Kobra (peace be upon her) in the Syrian capital city of Damascus.

Speakers threw light on the pious life of granddaughter of holy Prophet Muhammad Al-Mostafa (peace be upon him and his pure progeny) who was born on 5th Jemedi Al-Ola and was named by him.

Panegyrists recited eulogies in praise of Aqeela`tol Hashmiyyin Zaynab Al-Kobra (peace be upon her) who after the martyrdom of her brother Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) through her heart-rending sermons made clear to the world objectives of Husseini stand and shattered the foundations of palaces of Yazid.

Sweats were distributed.

An-Najma Al-Muhammadia Organization organized a two-day (Saturday-Sunday, 11-12 June, 4-5 Jemedi Al-Ola) 14th annual festival at Arabic Cultural Center in Damascus titled “Correction of Ommah and Human-building Focal Points in Charter of Sayedah Zaynab (peace be upon her)”. Religious, social and scholarly personalities attended.

First day festival began with recitation of holy Quran by Sheikh Abbas An-Nuri followed by Dr Assam Abbas who delivered inauguration speech. Others who addressed included representative of Cultural Minister Dr Ali Al-Qayyam, chief of council of secretaries at Arabic and Islamic Studies Center Al-Ostaz Dr Abdulkader Al-Katani, Al-Ostaz poet Dr Muhammad Abbas Ali, Ayatullah As-Sistani’s representative in Syria Hojat-ol Islam Sayyed Muhammad Abdulhakim As-Safi, Member People’s Council in Hims Al-Ostaz Zohayr Abdullatif Ghanoum, Ismaili Islamic Council Syria’s Al-Ostaz Sadreddin Al-Muhammad, Al-Ostaz Engineer Nabih As-Sa’adi, Al-Ostaz Engineer Ibrahim Abbas, delegate from Tartos Al-Ostaz Muhammad Ali Younas, delegate from Tartos Poetess Linda Ibrahim, Al-Ostaz Mahmod Al-Qadri Al-Husseini, Swedish delegate Dr Hamod Bakfani, Dr Sheikh Muhammad Habash, Church leader in Hamah Ma’an Bitar and Al-Ostaz Abdullatif Al-Katib.

The second day festival was addressed by Dr Assam Abbas, Hafez Muhammad Montazer Al-Mansori, Dr Nodra Al-Yazgi, poet Isa Ali Salman and Dr As’ad Ali.

The speakers termed following in the footsteps of Sayedah Zaynab (peace be upon her) need of the hour for success in the two worlds.
