By: Sheikh Muhammad Khurasani

TEHRAN, Iran: Iranian legislators vowed on Wednesday to follow up all legal strategies at home and abroad to secure the release of abducted Lebanese spiritual leader Ayatullah Mousa As-Sadr.

Ayatullah Mousa As-Sadr and his two companions - journalist Abbas Badreddin and Sheikh Muhammad Yaqub - were kidnapped in Libya some 27 years ago and their fate is unknown to-date.

“The Islamic Consultative Assembly urges Iran's Islamic government to adopt all legal strategies to clarify the truth about the event, to bring to justice those masterminding Mussa Sadr's abduction and those who abducted him and eventually secure his release,” read a statement signed by 152 Parliamentarians.

Ayatullah As-Sadr went missing on 31 August 1978 during an official visit at the invitation of Libyan government.
