DUBAI, United Arab Emirates: Preparations are on to commemorate the Day of Chehlum, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a.s.), and many mourners and matmi groups in the region are heading to Syria to perform azadari with mourners from across the globe to mark the occasion.

Syria is home to the holy shrines of Hazrat Zainab bint-e-Ali (a.s.), Hazrat Sakina bint-ul Hussain (a.s.) and several other personalities belonging to Ahlul Bayt (a.s.).

After the intense 10 days of the first Islamic month, mourners of the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) have continued the sessions of majalis and aza with even greater spirit.

Majalis are held daily at Hussainia-e-Zahra, Tajdar Imambargah, Mohammed Shah Imambargah and many other venues across Dubai, Sharjah and various other emirates.

Various speakers from across the globe have been reciting the majalis and highlighting a number of key issues. Renowned speaker Allama Talib Johri also delivered five speeches at Hussainia-e-Zahra, and likewise many other famous speakers from across the world have attended and captivated the mourners with the teachings of the Ahlul-Bayt (a.s.) as always momineen from various nationalities have conducted programmes at the various imambargahs and have allowed for a superb continuity in the mourning of the leader of all martyrs and his household.

Martyrdom anniversaries of Imam Zain’ul Abedeen (a.s.), Imam Hasan (a.s.), Imam Reza (a.s.) as well as that of Hazrat Sakina (a.s.) have also been commemorated across the country. Matmi sangats in the region also conducted a number of matam-dari programmes at various venues including imambargahs and homes.

These programmes will culminate on the 8th of Rabi-ul-Awwal.                 

Hundreds of thousands heading to Karbala for Arbaeen HOLY CITY OF KARBALA, Iraq: Thousands of devotees of Ahlol Bayt (A) are streaming into the holy city of Karbala on daily basis to mark the approaching occasion of Arbaeen Al-Husseini, or the fortieth day after the martyrdom of grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S) Chief of Martyrs Al-Imam Al-Hussein (A) along with his 72 faithful companions in the scorching desert of this holy city.
