IHRC welcomes Shabina Begum ruling
By: Islamic Human Rights Commission
TLONDON: The Islamic Human Rights
Commission welcomes the decision by the Appeal court earlier Wednesday
to uphold the right of British student Shabina Begum to wear the
Jilbab to school.
“Shabina Begum lost two years of her education to fight to uphold her
religious rights and duties. This isn’t just a victory for a brave 16
year old woman, but a victory for the entire Muslim community and
wider society. We hope this sends a clear signal to education
institutions that schools are places to promote and celebrate
diversity” said Massoud Shadjareh, Chair, Islamic Human Rights
Commission.
The IHRC is working to eliminate all forms of discrimination and is
working to support a number of students in a similar situation to
Shabina Begum.

"Knowledge is
better than wealth because it protects you while you have to
guard wealth. it decreases if you keep on spending it but the
more you make use of knowledge ,the more it increases . what you
get through wealth disappears as soon as wealth disappears but
what you achieve through knowledge will remain even after you."MORE
