Ayat Sistani warns against falling into sectarianism

By: Ismail Zabeeh

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Secretary General of National Founding Conference Sheikh Ali Al-Jabori revealed that Grand Marajay of Holy Najaf – Center of Shiia World – have reached an agreement with Moqtada As-Sadr and chief of Muslim Clerics Association on signing a referendum which warns Iraqis from slipping into conspiracies aimed at pushing the country into sectarianism.

Al-Jabori said the referendum, which will be made public in shape of pamphlets in coming days, is part of efforts of Grand Marajay namely Ayatullah Sayyed Ali As-Sistani, Ayatullah Ishaq Al-Fayad, Ayatullah Hafiz Bashir An-Najafi and Ayatullah Sayyed Said Al-Hakim to guide people on risks being faced by the nation.

Ayatullah As-Sistani, whose office in holy Najaf is witnessing during these days big delegations of tribal leaders and citizens especially those whose sons have been assassinated at the hands of terrorists asking the Grand Marjay (top religious authority) to allow them to revenge, has made clear that vengeance is not allowed if the aggressor is unknown.

He said best revenge is engaging sons in police, army and security forces for protection of the whole country.

According to the source Ayatullah As-Sistani became angry when chief of Aal-i-Muhammad tribe in Al-Ammara (south Iraq) asked permission for attack on Al-Latifiyah city after armed gunmen in the region killed many people of the tribe while they were coming to Holy Najaf from Sadr city to attend a funeral.

Ayatullah As-Sistani told the chieftain “If I had ten sons and nine of them would be killed, even then I would not kill any person from our Sunni brothers if the criminal is not known”.

Al-Hakim calls for standing against rift-creating attempts

BAGHDAD, Iraq: Sayyed Abdel Aziz Al-Hakim, head of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq and son of late Grand Marjay (top religious authority) of Shia world Sayyed Mohsin At-Tabatabai Al-Hakim, called on all religious Sunni and Shia clerics to stand unitedly against violence aimed at the nation.
