Saddam punched by court clerks on Ahl-ol Bayt (p) derogation

By: Ismail Zabeeh

BAGHDAD, Iraq: State-run Iraqi television reported last week that two court staff attacked despot ousted Saddam and punched him several times after he slander two holy family members of Ahl-ol Bayt (p) of holy Prophet (p).

Quoting people close to the investigative judges, Iraqiya television did not say when the incident occurred. However, Saddam’s lawyers said in July that their client was attacked during an interrogation session. The chief investigative judge of the special court dealing with Saddam denied the claims at the time.

Iraqi TV reported late Wednesday last week that the incident occurred after Saddam was being questioned about his efforts to suppress the 1991 uprising in southern Iraq, which broke out after US-led forces drove Iraq’s army from Kuwait.

The shrines of half brothers Al-Imam Al-Hussein (p) – grandson of holy Prophet (p) -and Abu`l Fdl Al-Abbas (p) in the holy city of Karbala were damaged by Saddam’s forces as they crushed the uprising, killing hundreds of thousands of Mo’minin.

“Saddam insulted Imam Hussein (p) and his brother Abbas (p) provoking two of the court’s clerks who were taking notes. They attacked the tyrant and punched him several times,” the station said. It did not elaborate.
