ATHENS, Greece: Greek Islamic League’s deputy president Naeem Al Ghandour has urged the Muslims in the country to continue exercising pressure on the Greek authorities to build a mosque in the capital city of Athens.

Al Ghandour said both the political and civilian authorities have made promises on several occasions to facilitate the procedures for the construction of a mosque in Athens. "However, there were no serious efforts to fulfill the promises," he added.

Explaining the difficulties faced by Muslims to perform congregational prayers in the capital, he said the Greek Muslims are performing prayers at various isolated places and houses in absence of a mosque.
