US Muslims given rare copy of holy Quran

DEARBORN, Mich.: A nearly 300-year old English
translation of the Holy Qur'an has been donated to the Islamic Center
of America (ICA) by Richard L. Steinberg, a Detroit trial attorney.
The book is to be held in trust for all Muslim peoples in metro
Detroit at the ICA, which is the largest mosque in North America.
The copy donated to the ICA was purchased from Bauman Rare Books in
New York and contains a hand-drawn map of the Arabian Peninsula, a
genealogical chart of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his
pure progeny), and a drawing of the original lay-out of holy Kabah in
holy Makkah. It also contains a preliminary discourse discussing
Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
