KUALA TERENGGANU: A maiden five-day (Aug 24 - 28) exhibition to display the culture and role of the Chinese Muslim community in spreading the faith in the country will be held at the Terengganu Trade Centre.

Terengganu Islamic Hadhari and Welfare Development Committee Chairman Datuk Rosol Wahid said the objectives of the 2006 International Chinese Muslim Exhibition, held for the first time in Asean, were, among others, to reduce racial differences and established racial harmony through assimilation and integration progammes.

"A total of 100 stalls will be made available during the five-day exhibition that will among others display various artifacts on the culture of the Chinese Muslim community and handicrafts from China," he told a press conference.

The exhibition would be filled with a variety of programmes in academic formats like forums and seminars under the themes of "Muslim Medicine Influence on Traditional Medicine"; "Islamic Elements in Chinese Culture"; and "Zheng He and the Region's Islamisation".

"We anticipated some 20,000 visitors would come to the exhibition and hope more visitors from Terengganu and the other states to attend the exhibition that can directly help us to understand better the Chinese Muslim community's way of live in the country," he said.
