India Shia Board says community marginalized

LUCKNOW, India: The All India Shia Personal Law Board has demanded proper representation for the community in government jobs and central Hajj committees saying that Shias were marginalized and their representation in state assemblies and Parliament was negligible.

Addressing a news conference here, board secretary Maulana Zaheer Abbas also demanded that separate Waqf boards for Shias should be set up.

Abbas demanded that Shia pilgrims bound for 'Ziyarat' in Iraq and Iran should be provided a subsidy as was the practice before 1976.          


Shias in India demand equal representation in executive bodies

LUCKNOW, India: Shia Democratic Alliance, SDA, staged a sit-in at the Indian Vidhan Sabha Demanding an equal representation for Shias in the decision-making bodies in the country.
