Jammu & Kashmir govt plans to do up imambaras, Ziarat

SRINAGAR, Held Kashmir: As part of efforts to smarten Shia religious places and promote religious tourism, Jammu and Kashmir government is acquiring land in and around the Zadibal Imambara in interior city.

"Acquisition of land should be speeded up in Zadibal so that execution of the beautification of Imambara is taken up at the earliest," Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Mohammad Dilawar Mir said chairing a meeting of officials here.

Mir said an amount of Rs.62 lakh will be spent by the tourism department for construction and beautification of Ziarat Sharief Mir Shamasuddn Iraqi in Zadibal whereas about 30 structures are required to be dismantled around Imambara Zadibal for beautification of the area.

Government has planned beautification project of the Imambara as part of its campaign to promote religious tourism in the state.

The beautification includes setting up a recreation park and widening the road in Zadibal area of the old city.
