First day of Muharram in Iran

HOLY CITY OF QOM, Iran: Marasim-i-azadary – majalis,
processions, dirges and matam – began in all parts of Islamic Republic
of Iran on the eve of first Muharram paying homage to te martyrs of
Karbala.
 
Main mourning gatherings were held at the holy shrines
of Hazret-e-Imam Ali bin Mousa Ar-Reza (a.s.) and Hazret-e-Fatimeh Al-Masumeh
(a.s.) in the holy city of Mash’had and Qom.
