Afghanis commemorating Hossaini sacrifice in Karbala

KABUL, Afghanistan: Every Hossaini is paying homage to
the martyrs of Karbala whose unparalleled sacrifice in Karbala in 61
A.H. gave new life to Islam and protected human values.
In Afghanistan like other countries, marasem-i-azadari began on the
eve of Moharram 1 – first month of Islamic calendar - and these would
remain in continuation till Rabi-ol Aval 8 – the 3rd Islamic month.
Men, women and children gather at mosques and imam-bargahs across the
country to attend majalis-e-aza. Speakers describe high status of
Hazret Imam Hossain (a.s.) in sight of Allah and His Prophet (a.s.),
his sufferings and events of Karbala tragedy. Later they perform matam
and eat neyaz (meal) from the table of Hazret Imam Hossain (a.s.).
