HOLY CITY OF KAZEMIYA, Iraq: Commemoration of Husseini supreme sacrifices rendered some 1,400 years ago in the burning plain of Karbala for defense of Islam and Shariah is being held in the holy city of Kazemiyah, home to the holy shrine of Al-Imamain Al-Jawwadain - Al-Imam Mousa Al-Kazem (p) and his grandson Al-Imam Muhammad Taqi Al-Jawwad (p).

In this holy city, different husseini organizations have set up tents and camps to receive mourners from the city and other parts in the Majalis-i-Azaa. During these majalis, speakers highlight objective of Husseini Qayam, then husseini dirges are recited followed by march of husseini mourning processions on the streets of Kazemiyah. The mourning culminates at the holy Kazemi shrine compound.

Food famous for Moharram days (minced meat and rice) is presented as Tabarrok bil Imam to the husseini mourners.

Black banners and husseini standards are placed on walls of government and public buildings, while recording centers in the city air husseini elegies cassettes.

Men, women and children wear black mourning dresses during throughout the months of Moharram, Safar till 8 of Rabi Al-Ola.

Women organize majalis at their homes while men attend such majalis at husseiniyaat and headquarters of husseini organizations.
