Protests against Jordan MPs on Zarqawi continue

By: Sultan Ahmed

AMMAN, Jordan: Demonstrations to protest against four politicians who visited the family of terrorist Abu Musab Az-Zarqawi and paid condolence to it on his killing, and to show their solidarity with the government continued in Jordan.

The four politicians, members of the Islamic Action Front (IAF), - Mohammed Abu Faris, Jaafar Horani, Ali Abu Sukkar and Ibrahim Mashukhi - were charged with inciting sectarianism and fuelling national discord after paying their condolences to the Zarqawi family.

The four were detained on Sunday after their visit.

Families of those killed in bombings in Amman in November, blamed on Zarqawi's group, had complained against the MPs.

The MPs sparked outrage when they visited Zarqawi's family in the town of Zarqa, north of Amman, two days after his killing in the American air strike last week.

One of the politicians reportedly called Zarqawi a "martyr".
