India: PDF asks Muslims to make presence felt in coming polls

LUCKNOW, India: Maulana Kalbe Jawwad, a Shia cleric and head of newly-formed People's Democratic Front (PDF) said Muslims have been "exploited" by several political parties for their vested interests but none has done anything for the well being of the community.

He was speaking at a rally held at Ranibagh ground in Kaiserganj.

"Political parties use the community to catapult themselves to power. This is the right time for us to unite and make our presence felt in the coming assembly elections in a more meaningful way," said Jawwad.


India: Muslims demand right to pray in ancient mosques

NEW DELHI, India: Muslims in India are demanding the right to pray in nearly 600 historical mosques, built during the Mughal era, across the country. The mosques are under the control of the central government for archaeological reasons.
