LONDON, Britain: The 25th annual Arbaeen (Chelum) Procession of Imam Hussain (AS) took place on Sunday 19th March 2006 (18th Safar 1427) at Marble Arch, Central London, commencing with Zuhrain Namaz-e-Jamat led by Hujjatul Isalm Sayed Jaasim At-Taweerjawi al-Karbalai, the most famous zakir of Iraq Followed by recitation of Sura al-Dahar in Arabic and English, Majlis in Arabic and Urdu.

At 2:15pm, the matami procession proceeded along Park Lane and returned to Marble Arch two hours later. This event was organized by the Hussaini Islamic Trust UK.

The Trust was formed in 1982 with the encouragement of Sayed Mahdi Al-Hakeem
(Martyr), son of Grand Ayatullah Sayed Mohsin Al-Hakeem.

It founded the very first annual Muslim Jaloos (Procession) in Central London and the very first Arbaeen/Chelum Jaloos of Imam Hussain (A.S) in the western world (USA & Europe).

People from Pakistan, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc attended. Also, over 15 Ulema participated.

The Trust has commissioned two large Shabbihs (replicas) of the shrines of Imam Hussain (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) which accompanied the mourning procession, along with many alams, flags, drums and zanjeer matam.

This year, for the first time in a procession in the UK, there was a small group dressed up as the Ahlulbayt as captives (faces covered) and the army of Yazeed, including Shimar. This ritual is practiced throughout the Arab world, especially in Karbala.

After the recitation of ziyarat Arbaeen (5pm), Khakh-e-Shifa Tasbees, Ziyarat Imam Hussain (A.S) souvenir posters and refreshments were served.
