Hussain Day at Al-Khoei Center NY draws Hindus, Sikhs, Christians

NEW YORK: 27th annual Imam Hussain Day was held on
Sunday march 5, 2006 at Al-Khoei center New York organized by Imam
Hussain Day Organizing Committee (Islamic Days Celebrating Council).

HIGH LIGHT OF THE PROGRAM
Program starts at 4 pm and had break for Sallatul Maghrabien and ended
at 8 PM.
The entire program was directly broadcasted by the Internet and were
media sponsored by the PTV Prime.
Around over 400 people from different faiths including Hindu, Sikh,
Christians attended.
Volunteers from Jan Nisarane Ahlulbait were amongst the recipient of
Award for their dedicated services to the Imam Hussain Day where as
Sajjid Jaffery one of the Founding member who attend all the 27 years
of Imam Hussain day.
A beautiful MUSHAERA (MASALMA Ba Yad-e- Imam Hussain) were also held
after the Dinner and following poets were attendees:

CLIPS from the speech:
"Say, Oh people of the Book! Come to common terms as between us and
you: that we worship none but God, that we associate no partner with
Him, that we erect not from among ourselves lords and patrons other
than God. If than they turn back, say we 'bear witness that we are
Muslims (bowing to God's Will)."
There is much that we can derive inspiration from the anniversary of
Imam Hussain's Alihies Salam martyrdom, since in his intellect which
encompassed Islam in its entirety, and in his heart which opened onto
the human being in entirety, and in his movement which sprang from
justice, goodness, and truth in their entirety, he was a symbol for
the meaning of a person who lived with Allah and sought inspiration
from Allah for all aspects of his personality. Neither thus, when in
our turn seeks inspiration from him, it is impossible for him to be
confined to a certain time or place; nor can any one event summarize
him. We have seen that some histories summarize Hussain in Karbala and
summarize Karbala in the meaning of tragedy, and when they wish to
broach the meaning of the revolution in Karbala, they limit it in a
narrow circle. How can we be with the Karbala of Imam Hussain?
Do not move with Hussain in history; instead, move with him in
reality, revolution, and change. So each of us should be Hussain, even
if only one percent. Because when we live Hussain in his method,
thought and spirit, and in his opening onto the issue of justice and
liberty in the human being, Karbala will find its audience among us,
and not just speak of its audience in 61 AH.
One of our friends said in his Poetry:
JUB BHE KABHE ZAMEER KA SOUDDA HOU DOUSTO
SABIET RAHOO HUSSAIN KAY ENKAAR KEY TARRAH
Let us convey to the suffering humanity the message of
Imam Hussain (A.S.) that peace lies with truth and truth is confirmed
with sacrifice and sacrifice comes with full trust in God and divine
justice. Unless all people of the world individually and collectively,
follow truth and gather moral courage to be magnanimous towards others
no peace is possible and no uncertainty can be dispelled.
It is our prayer that Allah established solidarity among all Peace
loving community in general and Muslim in particular reestablishes the
global leadership of the ummah.
Sheikh Fadhel Al-Sahlani said:
The key note speaker said that the world, again, is on the verge of an
impending disaster. Humanity is divided further into factions.
Selfishness has taken the best of our judgments. Political power is
striving for economic supremacy. In the midst of these material
competitions, the spiritual and moral values are lost sight of.
Darkness is engulfing our vision and we are in need of a light which
can rip open the thick clouds of ignorant desires and show us the
brilliant daylight of moral and spiritual wisdom and everlasting
values of divine order in human existence on this earth to ensure
peace and justice.
We are stranded today waiting to be guided from materialism to
spiritualism, from greed to sacrifice, from material pleasure to moral
contentment, from fear of oppression to security of justice, from
chaos to most abiding order. The world therefore needs today, all the
more, to know Imam Hussain to solve its burning problems and rescue
mankind from the impending dangers of war, crime, disease and growing
poverty.. Human life is reeling under the crushing weight of
uncertainties on all fronts of intellectual, economic and political
paradoxes.
Whoever is with the Karbala of Imam Hussain cannot pledge allegiance
to an oppressor, nor can such a person fight alongside on oppressor or
excuse an oppressor or justify his oppression. Therefore, shorten your
tears when they are tears of history, and let them flow when they are
tears of the oppressed and downtrodden human beings.

Syed Istafa Naqvi:
Karbala in its entirety was about oppression, since it sprang from the
message in the path of justice, and it sprang from the heart of
reality in order to argue against that reality, to revolt against it
and to change it. Do you wish to be like Hussain? If so, the issue is
not to cry much, even though crying has its meaning. And the issue is
not to mourn much and beat oneself, though that has its symbolism.
Instead, the issue is to face reality in its entirety and to live that
reality as Imam Hussain lived it and the chosen ones of his family and
companions lived it. They did not remain neutral in the face of the
reality of oppression and arrogance.
Do not move with Hussain in history; instead, move with him in
reality, revolution, and change. So each of us should be Hussain, even
if only one percent. Because when we live Hussain in his method,
thought and spirit, and in his opening onto the issue of justice and
liberty in the human being, Karbala will find its audience among us,
and not just speak of its audience in 61 AH.
