By: Karim Tellawi

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Lebanese parliament speaker Nabih Berri has sent a letter to United States secretary of State Condoleezza Rice concerning the sensitive issue of disappearance of chief of Lebanon’s Supreme Shiia Islamic Council, Islamic thinker and philosopher Ayatullah Sayyed Mussa As-Sadr and his two companions.

In the letter, Berri hoped that the Libyan documents provided by the regime to the US in an attempt to restore diplomatic ties between both countries would unveil the truth behind the disappearance of Mussa As-Sadr.

As-Sadr along with his two aides Sheikh Muhammad Yacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddin was disappeared in 1978 in Libya while he was there on Gaddafi’s invitation.

Berri hoped that the American government will take into consideration this important human issue.
