Mubarak, Lebanon Shia Council head discuss Arab developments

CAIRO, Egypt: Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Shia Council in Lebanon Sheikh Abd Al-Amir Qublan held talks in Egypt.

The meeting mainly dealt with the latest Arab developments, especially in Lebanon, along with the Lebanese-Syrian ties.

Qublan said that talks took up the situation in Iraq, adding that Mubarak voiced preparedness to play any role that could serve all Iraqi sects.


Arab Shiias slam remarks by Egypt President on their loyalty

KUWAIT CITY: Saudi Shiia clerics and intellectuals besides Iraqi government, Kuwaiti premier, clerics and politicians, and Lebanese Hezbollah have criticized remarks by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak about the loyalty of Shiias to their countries.
