Bulldozed Al-Baqi a question mark … Cairo hosts confab for Arab heritage protection

CAIRO, Egypt: Ninth congress of the General Union
of Arab Archaeologists was held in Egyptian capital city of
Cairo with more than 100 researchers participated.
The conference discussed ways of protecting archeological
monuments and Arab heritage from dangers because of the wars
in Palestine, Iraq and Lebanon.
Prior to the conference, head of the Union said in a statement
that conference titled Studies in the Arab World and the
effects discussed in the workshops studies designed to protect
the Arab heritage.
A special session was dedicated to cultural destruction left
behind by the Israeli aggression on Lebanon.
Arab delegations representing universities, institutes and
scientific bodies concerning heritage in the Arab world
attended the two-day conference.
It is worth noting that the holy shrines of Ahl-ol Beit
(a), and graves of holy Prophet (s)’s wives and companions (r)
in the cemeteries of Al-Baqi and Al-Moalla were bulldozed in
early 1920s by the then Saudi rulers, and these destructed
holy heritage is still a question mark for these international
organizations working for protection and rebuilding of
archeological signs.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: “Aalmi Youm-e-Inhidaam-e-Janna-tul Baqee” (Worldwide Day of Demolition of Janna-tul Baqee) was observed with religious and national spirit and reverence on Wednesday throughout the country like other global parts in line with the announcement made by Quaid-i-Millat-i-Jafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi against the demolition of holy shrines of holy Prophet (SAAW)’s daughter Khatoon-e-Jannat Hazrat Syedah Fatimah Zahra (SA), Ummahatul Mominin (RA) and Sahaba Kibar (RA) buried in Janna-tul Baqee and Janna-tul Moalla at the hands of the then Saudi rulers on Shawwal 8, 1924.
