TEHRAN, Iran: Wednesday was public mourning in Iran on the
death of grand religious authority Ayatollah Haj Mirza Javad
Agha Tabrizi, who passed away Monday night, in line with the
announcement made by the Cabinet Tuesday.

Holy Qom is observing mourning for three days while
Wednesday was official holiday in the holy city therefore, .


Ayatollah Tabrizi was born in a religious family in Tabriz
in 1926. He learned the introductory and some higher levels of
religious studies in Tabriz and then immigrated to Qom to
participate in the classes of great clerics in the Qom
Seminary.
After five years, Ayatollah Tabrizi traveled to the Holy Najaf
in Iraq. There he participated in the classes of Ayatollah
Khoi, Ayatollah Mohsen Al-Hakim and Ayatollah Abdul-Hadi
Shirazi. He was a teacher himself too.

After 23 years of activities in the Najaf Seminary, he
returned to Qom and set up classes for students of theological
studies.
Supreme leader of Iran's office issued a statement Tuesday to
condole the demise of Ayatollah Tabrizi.

"Painful demise of the eminent religious Authority and
honorable jurist, Ayatollah Mirza Javad Tabrizi, who was an
invaluable master in the Qom Religious School and offered many
services to Islam and Shiism true sect, made us sad. We offer
condolences to the religious authorities, religious schools
specially Qom holy school and his sons," the statement said.
The IR Leader's office was to hold a commemoration ceremony in
Qom grand mosque on Nov 22 and at Tehran's Motahari School on
Nov 25.

Ayaat including Sheikh Nasir Makarim Shirazi, Saafi
Golpaygani, Mazaheri, Fazel lankarani, and Sheikh Vahid
Khurasani have offered their condolences on the death of grand
Ayatollah.
Ayatollah Sheikh Vahid Khurasani visited the office of (late)
Ayatollah Tabrizi for condolence to the bereaved family and
students.
Meanwhile, students of Qom Hozaa organized a majlis-e-aza at
his office and recited marasi (elegies).
