OIC flays assault on Al-Aqsa, Iraq holy shrines

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Illegal excavation works at the Al Aqsa Mosque by Israel were condemned by the Ninth Session of the Council of Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (PUIC) member states.

The session, under the chairmanship of Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib, passed 23 resolutions including a call on the international community to promptly intervene to force the Zionist regime to comply with international resolutions and stop its misconduct in the Muslim's Holy Place which was violating the international law.

In the press communiqué released at the conclusion of the session here on Friday, the lawmakers from 34 member states also appealed to the Palestinians to comply with the agreements concluded between Hamas and Fatah in Makkah recently and to unify their ranks against their real enemy.

The session expressed its deep concern and condemnation over the successive terrorist attacks targeting people, holy shrines, mosques, places of worships in Iraq but stressed the necessity not to intervene in the internal affairs of the country and let the will of its people to choose their political and administrative systems to safeguard its unity and integrity.
