Ashura mourning going on in Nigeria - a report

ZARIA, Nigeria: A ten-day mourning over the tragedy of Karbala on
the massacre of the Prophet family (s.a.w.a.) was started in Nigeria
on Saturday 20th of January, 2007.
The mourning is organized by the members of the Islamic movement in
Nigeria under the leadership of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky.
The mourning is being held in most of the cities and villages of
Nigeria like Kano, Zaria, Kaduna, Sokoto, Potiskum, Lagos, Abuja,
Katsina and other remote villages of the country.
The Islamic movement will also organize a mourning procession in Zaria
city on the 10th day of Muharram where by thousands of people are
expected to attend.
In Zaria city, the mourning is being lead by Sheikh Zakzaky who
delivers lecture on the Tragedy of Ashurah. After the lecture azadaris
are being sing for the mourning.
