By: Karim Tellawi

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Iran’s Majlis Judiciary Commission head Mohammad Taqi Mohassel Hamedani said his country seriously follows up the fate of the abducted Ayatullah Mousa As-Sadr and four Iranian diplomats in Lebanon.

Hamedani arrived in Beirut late last week on an unofficial visit at the head of a delegation.

"It has been heard that Libyan officials are also interested in clarification of status of the kidnapped Lebanese leader at the earliest," he said.

The MP expressed hope the fate of the kidnapped individuals would be clarified soon and they would return to their families.

Ayatullah Mousa As-Sadr was kidnapped during an official visit to Libya on August 31, 1978.

His fate has not been known since then.
