Muslim-Catholic Dialogue Confab confers spirituality themes

LOS ANGELES, United States: The 6th Annual Conference for West
Coast Muslims and Catholics Dialogue was held at the Mary and Joseph
Retreat Center, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
The three-day (May 21-23) dialogue brought together twenty-two Muslims
and Catholics from various parts of the west coast states.
The meeting was designed like spiritual and intellectual retreats,
with time set aside for prayers, attending one another's prayers,
reading and interpreting the Quran and the Bible together, and
discussing central themes of spirituality.
One of the main topics for this year was a focus on the personality of
Prophet Yusef (as) in the Quran and the Bible. Topics and papers were
presented by: Fr. Rafael Luevano, Joseph, prayer leader Sayed Moustafa
Al-Qazwini, Prophet Yusef, Prof. June O’ Conner, Christian Virtue
Ethics in Narrative Context, and Dr. Karim T. Abdullah, Muslim Virtue
Ethics in Narrative Context.
The dialogue was co-chaired by the Most Reverend Carlos A. Sevilla,
S.J., Bishop of Yakima, director of the Islamic Society of Orange
County Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqi, and director of the Islamic
Educational Center of Orange County Imam Sayed Moustafa Al-Qazwini.
