'Saudi king wrote letters to Ahsaa Shia leader'; disclosure for the first time

AL-AHSAA, Saudi Arabia: A Saudi analyst revealed about rare documents consisting of special letters written between King Abdul Aziz Aal-e-Saud and one of Shia leaders of al-Ahsaa during stages of the kingdom's foundation.

In his column published in Ar-Riyadh As-Saudiyah daily on Friday, the analyst Khalid An-Nazar said he found that letters with the grandsons of one of Shia political leaders and prince of Al-Jobayl town in Al-Ahsaa Sayyed Ibrahim bin Sayyed Muhammad Al-Hashim.

An-Nazar looked into these letters and published them for the first time as rare documents.

In his column, An-Nazar threw light on the personality of Al-Hashim, his status and political role in the backdrop of history of Al-Hashimiyah family.

To make clear nature of Shia leader's relationship with King Abdul Aziz, the analyst briefly stated security situation in Al-Ahsaa and the eastern region with the beginning of Uthmaniyah government weakness.

He said the letters disclose relationship of affection knotted by king Abdul Aziz with the Al-Ahsaa leader before the monarch stretched his influence on Al-Ahsaa.

This relationship strengthened further confidence of the king on Shia leaders after his arrival to Al-Ahsaa, An-Nazar said quoting different documents which showed monarch's confidence on these leaders in running the region in early years of 20th century.
