Israel resumes digging near Jerusalem Holy Site

By: Ahmed Hammadi

HELD JERUSALEM: Israel has decided to resume controversial archaeological excavations near the Al-Aqsa mosque compound in Jerusalem, a project which earlier this year sparked protests worldwide.

Israeli officials say archaeological excavations will be resumed near Jerusalem's most hotly disputed holy site.

When the dig began in February, it caused uproar in the Islamic world; with Muslims said that Israel was plotting to undermine the foundations of the Holy site.
