Washington protest demands Saudi permit for Al-Baqi reconstruction

WASHINGTON, United States: Marking the 84th anniversary of demolition of Al-Baqi Cemetery in the holy city of Medinah, Saudi Arabia, on Shawal 8, Monday, a protest was staged in front of Saudi embassy in Washington.

People belonging to different nationalities participated in the protest.

The protestors, who chanted slogans denouncing bombing and destruction of holy shrines and places of worship at the hands of extremists, demanded from the Saudi government to give permission for reconstruction of Al-Baqi cemetery in the holy city of Medinah.

Al-Baqi cemetery houses leveled holy graves of holy Prophet (S)’s daughter Sayedah Fatimah Az-Zahra (A), four imams from his holy progeny namely Al-Imam Al-Hasan Al-Mojtaba (A), Al-Imam As-Sajjad (A), Al-Imam As-Sadeq (A) and Al-Imam Al-Baqer (A), his son Ibrahim (A), his wives (R), uncles, aunts and companions (R), and mother of Abo’l Fadhl Al-Abbas (A) SAyedah Omm Al-Banin (A). Holy shrines on these sacred graves were bulldozed 84 years backs by the then Saudi rulers.
