Iran students raise voice of protest against anti-Islam film

By: Sheikh M Khurasani

TEHRAN, Iran: Students in Tehran-based universities staged a rally in front of the Netherlands Embassy in the Iranian capital condemning the release of anti-Islam film by a Dutch lawmaker.

The students were chanting slogans such as 'Down with USA', 'Down with Israel' and 'Dutch Ambassador to Iran should be expelled'.

The protestors also called for the closure of Dutch companies including Shell and Phillips in Iran.

A representative of the protesting students noted that the imperialists are always trying to harm Muslim countries.

The release of the movie led to strong condemnations both from within and outside the Netherlands.

Among those countries protested the release of the film were Pakistan, Indonesia and Bangladesh.

OIC also added its voice to the growing criticism of the film.

The European Union also said the 15-minute film aired by a London-based website inflamed hatred.

Also, South African Muslims joined their counterparts in other countries.
