Tipu Shahi Mosque stolen antiques case probe continues

KOLKATA, India: Miscreants stole fourteen antique brass covers of tombs and minarets of the Tipu Shahi Mosque in Kolkata. Though the police arrested three persons in this connection, they have so far failed to recover the antique pieces.

The detective department of city police is probing the theft occurred on Sunday night.

According to the police miscreants entered the mosque and took away the brass covers, each weighing 5.5 kg.

The estimated worth of the antique pieces is at least few crores, the police added.

Tipu Shahi Mosque was built in 1832 by the youngest son of Tipu Sultan. A prominent landmark, it is located at the crossing of Deshapran Sasmal Road and Prince Anwar Shah Road.
