LAHORE/ LUCKNOW: On Rajab 22 that is the seventh month of Islamic
calendar, devotees of Ahlul Bayt (peace be upon them) made special
arrangements for the Niyaz, known as “Koonday” in the Sub Continent,
of Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (peace be on him) with utmost veneration at
Mosques, Imambargahs, Imambaras, homes and Islamic centers.

Women start preparing Niyaz, which include salty thin pan-cakes,
sweet small crunchy bread, sweetmeat, batter pudding and spicy-sweet
mixture of fruit and gram etc, at mid-night (night between Rajab 21
and 22) to serve this on 22 Rajab.
This year also, magnificent spiritual ceremonies of Niyaz in the name
of Hazrat Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (Peace be on him), the sixth infallible
descendant of Holy Prophet (peace be on him & his pure progeny), were
held in different countries.
In India and Pakistan, such spiritual gatherings took place in all big
and small cities, towns and villages largely attended by momineen.

During these mahafil, Mojeza of Imam Jafar As-Sadiq (peace be on
him) was recited, nawafil (supererogatory prayer) were performed,
niyaz was eaten and (prays) dua were offered for the supremacy of
Islamic world, safety of holy sites and Maraje Uzzam, success of
freedom movements of oppressed and Muslim nations, and security of all
Muslims. On this occasion, Momineen made vows for the fulfillment of
their wishes.
Speakers and scholars while addressing the Mahafil highlighted the
significance of 22 Rajab saying this day is commensurate with
remembering Sadiq-e-Aal-e-Muhammad (peace be on him) by presenting
“Nazr & Niyaz” to them, as it is the source of nearing God and
guarantees guidance and blessings.
