Demolition of Baqee` holy shrines equal to Ashuraa, says Qom’s Ayat

ROME, Italy: One of Holy Qom’s Ayatullah Sheikh Jafer As-Sobhany
has said flattening and desecration of holy shrines of A’emmah Al-Hodaa
from the progeny of holy Prophet Hazret Muhammad (S) in Al-Baqee`
cemetery in the holy city of Medinah is tantamount to Tragedy of
Ashuraa.
He made his remarks in a statement issued marking the sad occasion of
demolition of holy shrines of Al-Baqee` cemetery on Shaval 8.
The holy shrines were pulled to the ground in 1926 at the hands of the
then Saudi rulers.
According to Iranian Rasa news agency Ayatullah As-Sobhany said every
Muslim is under obligation to express their grief and raise voice
against the criminals.
He further noted that it has been a practice of wise men in the world
even the followers of other religions that they honour and built
graves of prophets and their deputies; graves and shrines of Prophet
Abraham in held Palestine, and other Prophets’ in Jordan, Syria,
Egypt, Iraq and other places are live evidence.
The Ayatullah said Muslims and freedom-loving people in the world
demand rulers of Najad and Hijaz (Saudi Arabia) to permit devotees of
Ahlil Beit (AS) to reconstruct demolished holy shrine.
