Honoring Karbala martyrs farsh-i-aza spread in India

HYDERABAD, India: To pay rich homage to supreme sacrifices rendered
by Hazrat Imam Hussain (a.s.) and is 72 devoting-companions for
supremacy of Islam and Shariah and defense of high human values some
1,400 years ago in the burning desert of Karbala, farsh-i-aza
(mourning carpet) has been spread across India.
With the sighting of Muharram crescent Majalis-i-aza began
commencing the 68-day mourning period. Hundreds of thousands of
Indian Mo’mineen flock to imambadas to participate in azadari
(mourning rites). Tazia, `mehndi', `taboot' and `alam' processions
are taken out.
Speakers throw light on objective of Hussaini qayam and
philosophy of his great sacrifice.
The residents of Muslim dominated localities have urged the district
administrations to ensure cleanliness and street lighting in these
areas. The power department has been urged to ensure regular supply
for the ten-day main mourning period.
The police have chalked out detailed security plans.
