Arba’een observation in Muzaffarpur, Kolkata

MUZAFFARPUR, India: Marking Arbaeen of Al-Imam Al-Hussein (AS), Husseini majalis and processions were held in all cities and towns of India including Kolkata and town of Muzaffarpur in northern province of Bihar on Monday,16th February 2009 with great reverence and long traditions where Dutt Brahmin Hindus were also present.

In Muzaffarpur, Alams, taboot, zuljinah, musahri, sipar were also taken out in the mourning procession and seenazani and zanjeeri matam were also performed by the participants with much compassion.

On 20th Safar,1430 A.H. mourning processions were taken out at 5 p.m. from Bada Imambada Nawab Syed Mohammad Taqi Khan Sahab, encircling the mourners in a thick rope and culminated after 6 hours in the Badi Karbala at Company Bagh area.

Maulana Waseem Haider of Bangalore had recited the 10-day long majlis at the Imambada. About 6000 people were gathered in the mawakeba to pay homage to the Martyrs of Karbala.

In Kolkata, there were processions of 18 Bani Hashims, Matams, Juloos regarding this very day of Arbaeen to give condolence to Hazret Sayedah Zainab (a.s).
