ZARIA CITY, Nigeria: The 40th day mourning of Imam Hussein (a.s) killing held in Nigeriaʼs Zaria city on Sunday 20th safar 1429 as usually organized by the Islamic Movement whereby thousands of believers from all part of the country attended.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky leader of the Islamic movement in Nigeria gave a lecture to the audience by starting with the significance of 40th day mourning of Imam Hussein (a.s). He cited quranic, Hadith and historical references on the importance of marking 40 days event.

Sheikh explained the tragedy of Karbala as a trial to the believers but not beyond the power of Almighty Allah. The tragedy also gave an opportunity to know the righteous and those who gone astray.

While flashing back on the previous attempt to stop the Ashurah gathering in Zaria city and plan to kill the leader of the Islamic movement Shekih Zakzaky. Sheikh said that the attempt failed woefully without producing any positive result as planed by the government security agents and thugs with the support of Zionist and American embassy in Nigeria. He further warned that they will never succeed in destroying the Islamic movement in Nigeria even if they kill the leader of the Islamic movement. He cited an example with Hizbollah whereby the Zionist killed her previous leaders like Sayyied Musa Sadr and Sayyid Abbas Musawi but the resistance did not give up rather than growing stronger that before.

Sheikh Zakzaky described the huge gathering of mourners in millions at the cemetery of Imam Hussein as a sacrifice to the Imam Hussein and sign of the appearance of Imam al Hujjah (a.t.f).

The mourning gathering was concluded with recitation of poems by shuʼarah, recitation of Imam Hussein Ziarat and closing prayers.
