LONDON, United Kingdom: Annual 28th Arbaeen procession (Chelum) of
Imam Husain (AS) was held on Sunday 15th February 2009 at Marble Arch,
Central London. The procession, which has now become one of the
largest annual Muslim processions of the UK, marks the 40th day after
the martyrdom of the Grandson of Holy Prophet (SAVV) in Karbala 680AD.

The procession organized by Hussaini Islamic Trust UK began with
Azaan, Salaat-e-Zuhar, talawat-e-Quran, followed by speeches in
English, Urdu and Arabic. The procession started at 13:30 down Park
Lane and returned to Marble Arch at 16:15, ending with recitation of
Ziyarat-e-Arbaeen and Tabarruk.
The turnout was between 7000-8,000 Momineen, men, women and children.
This procession attracted Momineen from across the UK, (from many
ethnic backgrounds) Pakistan, India, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon and
Afghanistan, etc.













Leaflets were distributed amongst the general public, to raise the
awareness of Islam, message of peace, and the great sacrifice of Imam
Husain (AS), his family and loyal companions.
