New Zealand Shi`ahs take out an Ashura Procession

AUCKLAND, New Zealand: Fatima Zahra Charitable
Association (Hey`ate Fatemiyah) marked the martyrdom of the Master of
the Martyrs, Imam Husayn (as), by taking a procession into the open
for the second time in New Zealand history.
The event took place in Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand.
Shias from different ethnic backgrounds and associations (Husaynias)
joined Fatima Zahra Charitable Association in a show of solidarity for
mourning the martyrs of Karbala. The event was attended by Haj Sheikh
Hamed
Soltanian, from Fatima Zahra Charitable Association and Maulana Syed
Abul-Qasim Rizvi from the Al Murtaza Association.
The programme included beating of the chest (seenezani) and for the
first time in New Zealand Zanjeer Zani (flogging with chains). It was
concluded with the reading of Ziyarat of Ashura.
Congregational prayers of the noon of Ashura were conducted at the
Fatima Zahra Charitable Association, led by Haj Sheikh Hamed Soltanian.
