US Shiites drawn to “Imam Ali, the Perfection of Humanity” conference

DEARBORN, United States: A conference in Dearborn, centered on the
life of Imam Ali (AS), the son-in-law and first infallible successor
of prophet Muhammad (S), has absorbed Shi’ite Muslims from across the
United States.
The conference is being held marking the auspicious ccasion of birth
anniversary of Imam Ali Al-Mortadha (As).
Organized by the Muslim, the three-day event that started Friday July
3 is given the title “Imam Ali, the Perfection of Humanity.”
“It’s a great opportunity for Muslims and non-Muslims to learn,” said
Bilal Dabaja, 24, of Dearborn, a conference volunteer.
“We try to emulate Imam Ali,” said Hyder Syed, of Houston, Texas,
secretary of the Muslim Congress. “He was very courageous.”
Tarek Baydoun, 24, of Dearborn said the conference is a “good way
for the community to come together and remember our faith.”
