By: Karim Tellawi

BEIRUT, Lebanon: Higher Shiite Council’s Vice-president Sheikh Abdel-Amir Qabalan said that as long as the Palestinian cause was not resolved, the Resistance and the Lebanese army "will work hand in hand."

In an interview with the Saudi newspaper Okaz that was published on Monday, Qabalan stressed that the Resistance "will not to create a separate state or have arms of its own."

Terming Wednesday's Riyadh Summit a historic event, the Lebanese leader hoped that it would pave the way for a comprehensive Arab reconciliation.

He called for maintaining efforts to mend relations among different Arab countries and to reduce tensions.

Qabalan added the upcoming parliamentary elections were not critical, but said they were "important on the national level so as to build a strong society."
