MELBOURNE, Australia: To remember the great and matchless sacrifice of Imam Hussein (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (S), marking his chehlum (fortieth day after his martyrdom that falls on Safar 20), a grand Husseini procession was held in Melbourne, Australia on 16 Feb 2009.

The procession took place in the heart of the city of Melbourne; mourners were chanting elegies and doing matam (chest-beating). After the procession a majlis-e-aza was held and zohrain prayer (afternoon prayer) was offered at Federation Square, the largest event place of Melbourne.

The most important thing of the event is that the first Azan (prayer call) with ASH HADO ANNA ALI (a.s) UN WALI ULLAH was heard in Melbourne in the history of the city.
