Madinah second destination for hajj pilgrims

By: Abdulali

HOLY CITY OF MEDINAH, Saudi Arabia: Though visiting Madinah is not part of the Hajj rituals, the holy city is the second destination that pilgrims visit either before or after Hajj to pay homage to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his holy progeny), pray at his mosque and Baqee Al-Gharqad also known as Jannat-ol Baqee (cemetery of Baqee).

The Saudi authorities have completed all preparations to receive pilgrims in the city to make their stay not only comfortable but also memorable.

After praying at Masjed An-Nabawi or the Prophet’s Mosque, pilgrims visit Baqee Al-Gharqad, the cemetery that contains the bulldozed graves of the Prophet’s beloved daughter Sayedah Fatimah Az-Zahra, his grandson Al-Imam Al-Hasan, three Imams from his holy progeny i.e. Zayn-ol Abideen, Muhmmad Al-Baqer and Jafer As-Sadeq (peace be on them all) as well as his companions, aunts, uncles and ommahaat Al-Mominin (may Allah be please with them).

The Baqee cemetery was bulldozed in 1926 by the then Saudi rulers sending a wave of anger in the Islamic world.
