By: Abdulali

AL-QATIF, Saudi Arabia: Despite a ban by Saudi authorities to commemorate Layali Al-Qadr (Ramadan 19, 21, 23) in all Shiite cities and areas, the observation began on Tuesday September 8, night between Ramadan 18-19.

Ramadan 19 is also the day of dharbah (when ibne Moljim struck a poisoned sword at the holy head of Master of Believers Imam Ali (AS) while he was offering Fajr (pre-dawn) prayer on Ramadan 19 in Kufa Mosque).

During the three-night (Ramadan 19-21) commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of Al-Imam Ali (AS), majales al-azaa, religious gatherings and cultural conferences are being held at mosques, husseiniyat and ma’atam in Al-Qatif, Tarout, Al-Awamiyah, Safwa and other cities and towns.

Aamaal of Layali Al-Qadr led by respected clerics and scholars are also held at different venues including Al-Imam Ar-Ridha mosque in Ar-Rabiyah and husseiniyah Ommi Moin in Tarout.

According to newspapers reports, the Saudi authorities in the ban order told responsibles of the mosques and husseiniyat in all Shiite areas and cities not to hold any activities or commemoration after 12:00am throughout the holy month of Ramadan. And any husseiniyah or mosque that will go against this order will be sealed, concluded the ban-order.
